What to check on a hazelnut spread label

Review hazelnut spread through its ingredients, declared hazelnut proportion, allergen information and after-opening storage instructions.

EZMINO · · Updated:

Do not judge a hazelnut spread solely by the product name on the front of the pack. Products with similar names may differ in composition, texture and intended use. A meaningful comparison starts with the label as a whole.

Read the ingredient list

Check the ingredients and declared hazelnut proportion. Do not infer a 100% hazelnut, sugar-free or no-added-oil formula from the name alone. Use the current pack or confirmed product information for EZMINO's exact formulation.

Compare nutrition on the same basis

Different serving sizes can make comparisons misleading. Where labels provide values for the same quantity, use that basis for comparison; portion information can separately help you plan your own use. Do not draw an overall health conclusion from one nutrition figure.

Check allergens and storage

Review hazelnut and any other allergen information. Türkiye's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry explains that allergens should be distinguishable within the ingredient list. (Ministry guidance) Instructions may differ before and after opening. Use a clean, dry utensil and follow the pack directions.

Appearance does not establish composition

Oil separation, colour or consistency alone does not prove purity or quality. Use product-specific information and pack instructions. If the pack instructs you to stir before use, follow that guidance rather than applying the same rule to every spread.
